Improve Your Skin To Achieve Full Facial Rejuvenation

When undergoing facial rejuvenation, one must not forget the body's biggest organ…the skin! Surgical corrections are powerful, but without enhancing the quality of the skin, many surgical procedures will not reach their full potential. Dr. Robb and his expertly trained staff often correct rough, crepey or blemished skin with advanced laser cosmetic treatments like CO2 laser resurfacing and photofacials, resulting in a more youthful glow and even skin tone. In addition to removing damaged skin, laser treatments stimulate the production of new, healthy skin cells.

What Is CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing?

CO2 laser resurfacing in Atlanta minimizes skin imperfections with highly concentrated laser beams. CO2 laser resurfacing is referred to as an ‘ablative’ treatment because it removes the topmost layer of the skin, while also targeting damaged skin cells in the underlying layer of skin.

This dual action stimulates the production of collagen and new skin cells, which in turn improves the tone and appearance of the skin. At Robb Facial Plastic Surgery, we use Deka SmartXide Dot®,  top-of-the-line CO2 laser technology that is more versatile and advanced than its competitors.

What Are Photofacials?

Photofacials use filters to isolate specific high-intensity light beams to target a particular problem, such as redness, fine lines, and wrinkles, or age spots. Photofacials cause no discomfort and are performed quickly in our office. Like most skin improvement treatments, several sessions may be necessary to get desired results. This therapy is excellent in skin maintenance and is very wisely used to prevent aging and skin discoloration.

Ideal Candidates For Facial Laser Treatments

Do you wish to reduce the appearance of scars, age spots, or crepey skin and promote healthier skin cell growth? If so, one of our advanced laser treatments could be right for you. Our helpful staff will examine your skin and medical history during your consultation and listen to your aesthetic goals before suggesting a customized solution.

It is important to note that you may not be an ideal candidate for CO2 laser treatments if you have a darker skin tone, as the treatment may result in an uneven complexion. If you have active acne or cold sores, an alternative treatment may be suggested instead.

What Happens During A Laser Treatment?

After our helpful staff situates you in our deluxe medical spa, your laser treatment begins with a skin cleansing. For CO2 laser skin resurfacing in Atlanta, topical anesthesia is applied to minimize any potential discomfort during the procedure. Then, a specially engineered device is used to apply concentrated light energy to the target areas, destroying damaged skin cells and catalyzing the development of healthy, new cells. For CO2 laser treatments, small bandages are applied to the treatment areas post-procedure to protect the skin while it heals. Photofacials do not result in skin peeling and do not require bandages. Laser sessions usually last about 20 to 30 minutes depending on the treatment type and scope of correction needed. Most patients require a series of sessions to achieve their desired look.

What Are Recovery And Aftercare Like?

Following CO2 laser skin resurfacing in Atlanta & Alpharetta, you may need some downtime for proper recovery, depending on the extent of work done. You will receive care-specific instructions before being sent home, but in general, it is common for patients to use a cold compress or ice pack to reduce discomfort for the first 24 to 48 hours.

Immediately after the procedure, the skin will feel like it has been sunburnt. Redness, dryness, flaking, and peeling are common in the following days for CO2 laser sessions. Following treatment, it is important to apply sunscreen, wear hats, and stay out of the full sun, as your rejuvenated skin will be sensitive. Photofacials do not require downtime as they do not result in skin peeling.
