Many Ways To Contour Your Chin

Do you wish that your facial features were more balanced or harmonious? Often a small or misshapen chin can throw off the symmetry of the whole face. For some, a weak chin can cause poor self-image and self-esteem. Today, there are a few ways to reshape your chin that produce natural-looking results and restore facial symmetry.

What Is A Chin Augmentation?

In simplest terms, a chin augmentation is the reshaping of your chin. There are surgical and non-surgical methods to achieve a chin augmentation. The key to great-looking results done in a safe way is to seek the care of an experienced facial plastic surgeon

Dr. Robb is double board-certified in facial reconstruction and head and neck surgery, and exclusively performs surgeries for facial cosmetic and reconstructive purposes. He has successfully re-contoured chins with both implants and dermal fillers, making his patient’s faces look naturally balanced and attractive.

Using Implants For A Chin Augmentation

The most permanent way to reshape your chin, chin implants are made of medical-grade material and are soft and flexible. Dr. Robb carefully shapes and positions the implant, ensuring a natural look and feel. Implants are securely anchored and do not move.

Chin implants require small, hidden incisions either under the crease of the chin or inside the mouth. The procedure is typically less than an hour, and is performed under local anesthesia in our state-of-the-art facilities.

Dermal Fillers For A New Look

If you are not comfortable committing to surgery, chin augmentation with dermal fillers could be a better option for you. Dermal fillers are temporary and require maintenance, however many are easily reversible, and augmentation via filler does not require dedicated recovery time. With an experienced facial specialist like Dr. Robb, fillers can be used to manipulate the size and projection of the chin.

Which Chin Augmentation Method Is Right For You?

To determine whether an implant or a dermal augmentation would suit you best, a consultation with Dr. Robb is necessary. During the consultation, Dr. Robb will listen to your aesthetic goals and examine your facial structure and gather your medical history. Dr. Robb will then determine which approach will best meet your needs and answer any questions you may have.

Generally speaking, if you want a permanent correction with significant projection, an implant is the appropriate choice. However, if you prefer to avoid surgery and want to see what chin augmentation might look like without committing to something long-term, dermal fillers may be ideal.

Recovery After A Chin Implant

As with any surgery, swelling and bruising are to be expected and should subside in about a week. Dr. Robb Jr. will create a customized recovery plan for you and prescribe pain medication to minimize discomfort during the recovery period. After about 7-10 days, many patients are able to resume desk work and other light activities.

Dr. Robb is dedicated to giving his patients an excellent experience and will be available for questions or concerns during your recovery. He will personally remove sutures and check initial healing approximately 1 week after surgery to ensure everything is going well. Some patients may benefit from the Robb Facial Plastic Surgery Rapid Recovery Program, which utilizes Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to accelerate healing.
