A More Open, Approachable Countenance

Puffiness and bags under your eyes are a nuisance most often caused by aging, stress, and lack of sleep. For some people, these problems are genetic. Eye ectropion, a condition where the inner lining of the eye is exposed, is also a troublesome issue that can cause discomfort and displeasure with the way you look. Lower eyelid surgery, or lower blepharoplasty, can help.

What Is A Lower Blepharoplasty?

This procedure is the surgical manipulation of the lower eyelid and surrounding area. Though the particulars of each lower blepharoplasty are unique to the patient’s needs, usually during this surgery, Dr. Robb carefully repositions muscles, redistributes or excises fat, and removes unwanted skin and lower lid wrinkles.

Is Lower Eyelid Surgery Right For Me?

To find the answer to this, a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Robb is necessary. During this time, Dr. Robb will listen as you detail your aesthetic goals and concerns. He will review your medical history and examine your face, and then determine if a lower blepharoplasty would help you. If so, Dr. Robb will explain the procedure in an easily-digestible way and answer any questions you may have.

What Will The Procedure Be Like?

On the day of your procedure, you will be placed under general anesthesia. Each lower blepharoplasty is different because each patient’s needs differ. As a general overview, Dr. Robb will create an incision along your lower eyelid. Then he will reposition or remove fat pads and gently manipulate the muscle tissue in the area. Finally, any excess skin will be removed. The procedure lasts 1-2 hours.

What Is Recovery Like?

Most patients should dedicate 1-2 weeks towards recovery, although it is possible to return to office work within a week if bruises are minimal. Bruising and swelling will subside in a week or two. In the days following the surgery, you should rest and use cold compresses to ease discomfort.

Dr. Robb will provide you with a tailored aftercare plan and personally oversee your recovery. He knows that anxiety can make recovery from surgery stressful, so he makes himself available to his post-operative patients for any questions or concerns they may have.

How Does This Procedure Help My Looks?

After you recover from surgery, you will look refreshed, brighter, and more engaged in life. The appearance of bags and dark circles under your eyes will drastically improve, and the area will look smoother. The overall effect will make you look years younger, and your face more open and friendly. If eye ectropion is an issue, this will be corrected so the inner lining of your lower lids is no longer exposed.
